On a Personal Note ~ New Job!

I started a new wonderful job!
And I changed my hair - again!
Obviously, because of the job change, I have been quite busy.
But now I'm settled and ready to start designing.
Here are some ideas for the office:

Fabric Cork Board

My peeps know that we are getting ready to move.
I talk about it all the time because I am so excited -
and you know why?
One word.

Dishwasher!

That's all I have to say!
And do you know what that means?
I don't have to be the dishwasher anymore!

I might pee my pants I'm so excited!

In all the excitement, I obviously am thinking of how I am going to arrange the furniture in our new place, what new decor I can come up with, etc.
There are some pieces of jewelry that I wear everyday,
and I thought it would be fun to use some sort of cork board to hang those necklaces and headbands and such...
so I found this idea for a DIY cork board!

What do you think?
What would you hang on your cork board?

My Younger Peep...

For those of you (namely Ashley) who are getting ready for the college experience,
I am posting some inspirational photos to get you excited!
It's a fun time in life!
And decorating can be half the fun!

Here are just a few items that you might like:

And let me just ask...
who doesn't need a safe attached to their bed?

How did you decorate your dorm room in college?

Real-Life #2

Okay 2nd update on Kiley's project!

Let's talk about the office
First view is of the bookshelf:
1. My first impression: create an arrangement of pictures or canvases.
2. BUT then I had a crazy idea - what if we centered it more on the wall so you still have access to the light switch but put the chair by the desk in the corner? I don't know if it would even fit, but then maybe you could put "otto" where the chair is.

Then we have view #2 of the desk area:
1. I'm thinking the area above the desk and chair needs something special. (side note: what about putting your filing cabinet next to the desk?)

Let me find a few more concept photos because it's hard to get my vision across in these, but here's a start :)
See the frames to the left of the bookshelf?

As I'm looking for photos, I always run across one that doesn't really relate, but look at the red cabinet! Eh?

Neat little filing system hanging above the desk.

More to come tomorrow...
What are your thoughts???

Dreaming Away My Work...

This is one thing you may not know about me:
designs come to me in my dreams!

Funny, right?

No, not really.
It's totally awesome!
When I was in design school, I never pulled an all-nighter.
Seriously! If I was stressed about a project, I would go to bed early.
Wake up early.
And then finish my project.
I worked my little tail off, but I never stayed up all night to finish a project.

Sometimes, if I was really focused, I would dream about my project while I was sleeping, and the solution to my dilemma came to me in my dream!
It was pretty fabulous.

I haven't had that experience since I graduated...
until...
this past weekend!

I had a dream about a fabulous two-story house,
and I had seen elements of it before in my other designs.
BUT there was an office in this dream that was unique and new.
I will have to post a sketch of it in plan view later for you to really catch the vision.

But this picture sums up my favorite part:
The doors and the transom window!
Oh how I love transom windows!!!

Practical Office:
Note the Apple Computer and the File Drawer...

A designer's office:
Do you see that awesome clock hanging on the wall in the corner?

Shab to Fab:
Notice the shutter on the desk that is used for a tack board?

Colorful accents:
Window treatments, flower, and all sorts of accessories.
Love the natural light too.

Crafty Office:
Designed specifically for function.

Too many wonderful elements to name...

What does your home office look like?
Or better yet, what do you want it to look like?
