Patio Mash-up

Hi, my name is Risa. {in unison - hi Risa} I'm addicted to Interior Design Blogs.

I love the pretty pictures and to fantasize about what I want to do with our home when we own one, and get ideas on what to do with our current apartment. Sometimes I see things that I love... okay, a lot of the times I see things that I love. Lots of things... and then I like to mash them up in my head. I should also tell you that I'm cheap, or frugal, but really just cheap. We live in the DC area and I'm a SAHM and my husband is in his first entry level job - post degree. All my project money gets poured into my exorbitant rent every month. I'm cheap out of necessity... and it's pushed me to become more creative and hone my vision if you will.

Recently I saw the coolest time lapse video on Design Sponge. View here. Then I saw this image.

(Three Men and a Lady)

I loved the outdoor space created in the video and the vibrant vibe of the image so I thought I'd create a mash-up.

Mash-up: a creative combination or mixing of content from different sources (according to websters... so you don't think I'm making things up)

I should warn you, I'm not a subtle person. I'm loud and crazy and I try to escape it sometimes, but always fail. So I give you a bold mash-up of the outdoor space in the video and the lovely sun room in the picture.

Here's how I'd make it happen:
The daybed is my favorite piece but I'd probably build my own and make my own pillows to save money.

I sourced the rest of the furniture from my local Craigslist, and here is the price break down of those pieces.

Coffee Table: $10
Buffet: $20
Chairs: $20 for both

I'd sand and re-stain the coffee table.

I'd leave the buffet in a weathered state... I kind of like the idea of it showing it's age and I'd be putting it outside so it'd be getting beat up anyway, but I'd add pretty knobs from Anthro, and I'd probably use it mostly for gardening tools, etc.

The chairs I'd spray paint and make cushions for.

All the fabrics are from the Premier Prints outdoor collection with the exception of the pink chevron.

I'd also pick up an outdoor rug to tie the space together.

I hope you enjoyed my first post. A big thank you to Stephanie for letting me be a contributor!
